On Art…
I enjoy working with different art mediums + materials and bring in a narrative inspired by personal experiences in my work. I believe that art has a universal language. It helps in connecting me to people from different age groups and different circumstances without prior knowledge or context. Art can give voice to untold emotions and feelings and dwelling in the arts is a way to keep ourselves open to possibilities that life offers. I have worked with children, adolescent as well as adults keeping art and craft as a means to resolve emotions. I conducted 'Art Solace' an online workshop that created a safe space to express through art during covid times for people who were coping with their grief, fear and anxiety.
I has worked with elderly people ( diagnosed with dementia) as part of a grant project from Burning man USA. The project allowed community of caregivers and patient as well parctioners ( doctors, artists and so on) to creatively engage and create awareness about mental illness.

I have received two grants from IFA Bangalore under Art in Education. It’s a program that brings in art education to government school in Karnataka. I worked on Repair as a theme for a year with Government school children in urban Bangalore. I also worked in a rural school in Uttara Karnataka where I brought in local story tellers ( from the native tribes living in the forest) to children retelling folklore that has been lost to English nursery rhymes.
On Education…
Life itself is the best teacher. Do we allow life to provide ample opportunities to learn? If you observe closely we have made our lifestyle based on convenience, comfort or luxury. Things are always under control. Experiences are pre-determined. Choices and decisions are made based out of fear, anxiety and societal pressures. Over centuries we have build systems that narrows the scope for learning. Real time life lessons are missing for our children, for ourselves. There is a deep work that's needed to be done in reimagining our lives and living conditions, only then education at a society level can reform itself.
I have been associated with a learning space that allows children freedom to make their decisions about what they want to do in the space. Learning is ample and relevant to each child based on his or her capabilities and interest.

On Food and Health…
‘I cook with love, some for the belly and some for the mind.’ Ancient medicine in India spoke about food as the only way to good health. I am committed to a life long learning journey to uncover food as only option for good health. I collect recipes, stories and document them. I feel just like how we cherish family albums and artefacts of our ancestors we must be able to save and cherish good home cooked food as delightful hand me down recipes. This is not just source for good health but also a way to preserve what made us all alive and kicking.

Sustainability and Repair ….
Since it’s inception in 2015 I am associated with Repaircafe Bengaluru. India is a country familiar with the value attached on repair, reuse and recycle, But in the last Two decade or so with these practices are receding in the pretext of development and the vast divide in wealth and lifestyle. The chase for a good life and eluding education system have proven to be some factors in alienating the youth from practicing sustenance at a very personal level.
Repair cafe works on the premise of bringing repair to public with guidance from repair experts from all walk of life be it professionals or repair enthusiasts. In this journey I have dabbled with Mending as an art form. As part of repair cafe training on creative mending I have experienced the joy of mending clothes that adds decorative aspect to the clothes which otherwise people may throw away. I have come across some talented mending experts ( based in Bangalore) who give new life to all that is wearable like shoes, shawls and denims. Sharing the joy of decorative mending with children through online workshops have given hope that all is not lost and that a growing tribe of citizens do value the knowledge and practice that can only be passed through generations who can witness the skills around them.
