People on the road in Kolkata. You get to see a wide range of characters in the bustling city of Kolkata.
1. I witnessed this lady, tall and well build with a guffawing laughter carrying a "kochu saag" A kochu saag is a variety of colocesia plant which is eaten all along the stem and roots. It's a monsoon special and half her size holding it by the ears (leafy part) and casually chatting.
2. The lady with a bird in one hand and a bag full of bird feed on her head, a big jhola bad in her left hand and no more room for anything else. She walked carefully, sweating in perspirations. She looked like she returned from the kali mandir and her forehead was smeared vermillion powder.
3. This man defied all laws of gravity. He slept in the bus stand near the lake that I would frequently visit. He was not resting his head on the platform instead his wide arms held tightly and his big belly balanced on the platform. His neck and head suspended while he slept.
